Server Rules
Whitelisted Application Rules:
Our roleplay experience has specific rules to ensure an enjoyable and fair gameplay for all. These rules cover aspects such as behavior, interactions, and engagement within the community. By following these guidelines, we create a welcoming environment for all players.
Requirement
- Age Requirement 18+
- A working, quality mic
- Character names must be realistic, must not resemble real-world names or famous people
- Being toxic, or breeding toxicity in any platform (twitch, discord, etc.) can have you removed from the community.
1).Deathmatching (DM)
Deathmatching (DM) is the act of attacking a player without proper IC motive and/or interaction. Prior interaction should include escalation such as a robbery or a report to the police.
- Players on foot should only be attempted to be hit by a vehicle once with a valid motive.
- Vehicles cannot be used as weapons in active shootouts unless where unavoidable.
- Players must be able to explain their reason and provide proof of prior reasoning if requested.
2). Fear Roleplay (FRP)
Fear Roleplay (FRP) Fear Roleplay is the concept of showing appropriate care and concern to preserve your character's safety and life.
- Players whose life is in direct danger must RP adequate fear and comply with demands given to them
- A player has the option to react if they are in a powered vehicle, if they already have a weapon drawn facing their attacker, or if their attacker's view is obstructed by an object.
3).Transfer of Assets:
- Players are not allowed to transfer any assets of any value between their own characters without an approved transfer request.
- Players are not allowed to transfer assets to other players without proper In-Character motive, whether the transfer is a trade or loan.
4). Failure to Report Rule breaks:
Players are expected to report severe rule breaks such as:
- Cheating
- Ban Evading
- Mass Metagaming/DM
- Harassment of Community Members/Staff
- Cyber-threats/attacks
- And other malicious and intentional rule breaks that are normally planned in e.g., private chats.
5). Circumvesting Bans (Ban Evading)
Bans from community areas such as discord, games, and forums, should not be circumvented in any way. Players are expected to submit ban appeals if they have an active ban that they wish to appeal
6). Server Advertising:
Players are not allowed to advertise other roleplay communities/servers on any of Divergent Role Play platforms, this also includes discussing them as that could be considered indirectly advertising.
7). Rule playing
Rule playing is a term used when players are using, manipulating, or interpreting rules or rulings falsely or outside of their intention, in an unrealistic or unintended way that does not constitute quality or realistic RP standards.
- In a criminal chase, driving at fast speeds knowing that your pursuers are unable to attack you because they can't deliver demands.
- Walking into a hostile situation with your hands up, knowing your backup is hiding, to bait deathmatching rights.
- Taunting e.g., an enemy at a public place (e.g. fishing pier) knowing that they can't retaliate at said public location, effectively showing no fear for your safety.
8). Offensive Language, Sexual, Torture, or Disgusting Roleplay:
- Players are only allowed to engage in sexual, torture, or disgusting roleplay if all players involved, including witnesses, give prior OOC consent. Such roleplay should therefore not be held in public areas or areas where players commonly visit, e.g., prison/jail.
- Racism is strictly forbidden
- Players are not permitted to use offensive language Out-of-Character to others.
9). Communication & Foreign Languages:
- Players must be able to communicate in English and In-Character chat must be English only. We do not forbid players from using words/slang of different languages to define their characters.
10). Using Out-of-Character Footage In-Character:
Roleplay of a non-visible camera object such as a body cam is only valid for 48 hours (about 2 days), or until your character gets killed, until it breaks through RP.
11). Respecting Staff Rulings:
Please be respectful of our staff members, even in cases where you disagree with their decisions.
Our staff members are volunteers who wish to help players such as yourself, but to enforce the server rules, they may also issue punishments or make decisions that may not favor you.
They are humans and, admittedly, can make mistakes that could make you feel mistreated and spark a conflict, however, even when you are upset, please refrain from further escalation and we expect the same from our staff.
As mistakes do happen, all players are welcome to submit punishment appeals and report cases of abuse on our forums where your concerns will be reviewed by a different staff member, and any potential mistakes will be corrected.
12). Metagaming (MG)
Metagaming is the act of relaying In-Character (IC) information through any method not considered IC which has the potential to change the current or future roleplay scenarios, or for the potential for the information to be used.
13). Non-Roleplay (Non-RP):
Non-Roleplay behavior is considered as actions that are unrealistic or promote poor quality roleplay. It's difficult to interpret or understand what good roleplay can be sometimes, and we aim to steer players in the direction we want them to go through our server rules. Players are welcome to speak to staff for guidance regarding roleplay. Example:
- Government-funded faction members must go off duty when not performing faction duties IC.
- Breaching the building rules intentionally.
In roleplay scenarios, players are required to remain In-Character all times. Roleplay can only be paused or voided by admin staff. This means that if for example, a player feels that another player has broken a server rule, they should not stop roleplaying and argue in an OOC chat, instead, they should submit a report, document the situation, and continue to roleplay.
14). Disconnecting/Crashing from Active Roleplay Scenarios - Combat Logging:
When a game crash/disconnect occurs, players must try to contact the involved players or staff. Most commonly, this is done on Divergent RP's official discord server, in the #crash-reports channel. If players do not have access to discord, they should try to contact the staff through discord, or the players involved if they know them. Players who crash from a police situation such as a chase will be charged and put in prison by admin staff.
When a player returns from a game crash/disconnect, all players involved must be given the same opportunities they held prior.
Players should not instigate situations they do not have time to play through. If a player is chased, they must wait 15 minutes before they can log out of the game. This does not apply if the player chasing is aware of the location of the chased player, thus it may be in the best interest of the player to submit an in-game report to get staff confirmation on whether they can log out or not.
15). Power gaming (PG)
Power gaming is defined as inserting unrealistic actions into a character's actions that would otherwise not be possible in real life, providing non-factual statements in /do, or not allowing other players a chance to roleplay responses and their own actions to your roleplay.
- Players should also not type several character actions into a single /me when it's aimed at another player, as that stops the player from roleplaying a proper response.
16). New Life Rule (NLR):
Upon a player's death, all parties involved in the death should forget the memory of all information and any negative interactions and events leading up to the death.
Information prior to the death should be completely forgotten and is no longer a valid justification for any future hostile action against those involved.
Players can't return to the area of death until the prior RP is finished, and 30 minutes Out-of-Character has passed.
Government faction members may return to their HQ and resume unrelated faction duties.
17). No Crime Zones (NCZ):
If a player uses the NCZ for protection the attacker must wait for that player to leave the area. However, players may not go to a NCZ within 15 minutes after engaging in criminal activity or a resulting chase, unless they are turning themselves in to law enforcement.
NCZs should not be used to safekeep illegal items and staff will occasionally check vehicles inside of NCZs and confiscate any illegal items from vehicles.
(NCZ: Hospital, appartments & Motels).
18). Hacking/Cheating:
Players are not allowed to have and/or use mods, trainers, or any kind of software that gives them an advantage, also known as 3rd party modifications. For example, players should not use aim cheats or visual cheats,
19). Exploiting:
Players may not abuse server bugs or unintended server mechanics to their own advantage, it should be reported as a Server Bug in the Bug Reports section: #report. For more sensitive server bugs, such as potential money exploits, players may want to report the bug to a staff member directly at their own discretion.
20). Continuity of Roleplay:
- if an player is arrested and being processed (i.e., in transport or at a police station for processing) when a server restart occurs, they must surrender themsleves to the police again upon rejoining the server after the restart to continue the role-play.
21). Punishment:
- Anything from a warning to a permanent ban depends on the severity and context of the situation, as well as the number of occurrences.
- Anything from a verbal warning to an indefinite/permanent ban depending on the severity of the modifications, and the context of it.
- Anything from an admin jail to an indefinite ban
22). Robbery: Stores, Banks etc.
- Robberies should be conducted in a realistic manner
- Player`s must wait limit time of 30 min after success (or not) robbery. It prohibits you to do so before time giving.
- it prohibits to uphold an area to prevent others to do robbery. First come, first served.
- player should wait add lease 15 min after finish robbery. That gives debt into RP and Cops change to respond.
- Once another player party has initiated a heist, it’s prohibited to interfere with their operation.
23). Robbing Cops
- It prohibit to lower a cop so to be rob.
- Same Rule 18 applied be robbing cops.
- it prohibits to take Items with PD on it.
- it prohibits taking a cop hostage to unlock certain elements of heists. Is considered power-gaming and will not be tolerated.
24). 6 on 6 Rule
- The maximum number of players allowed to engage in player-versus-player (PvP) criminal activities is 6 at any given time. However, there are certain scenarios where more than 6 players may be allowed. For instance, if a group of 6 individuals initiates hostile actions against a larger group, all participants will be flagged for that role-playing scenario, allowing them to engage in natural role-play. It's important to note that relaying information or communication between characters, such as acting as lookouts or using radio communications, will be counted as part of the scenario.
25). Player Theft, Prison Breakout, and Kidnapping:
Player Theft
Robberies should be conducted in a realistic manner with a reasonable in-character motive. Location, time of day, and realistic population should all be considered prior to a robbery. Players should not conduct minor robberies in situations with high risk. Players should consider the risk vs reward of the robbery and utilize secluded areas where necessary to avoid witnesses.
One cannot force victims to withdraw money, sell script assets, or give assets not present IC.
Prison Breakout
Prison break-in and break-out require a limit of 6 players.
Kidnapping & Hostage Roleplay:
- Players are allowed to kidnap or take other players hostage within the context of reasonable escalation.
- If you attempt to commit robbery of a property, you are allowed to hold the players within that property until you have finished the robbery
26) Tsunami Limitations
You cannot initiate any new criminal activity within 15 minutes of a server restart. Any criminal activity started more than 15 minutes before a restart may be continued.
